Why not apply for an IET scholarship of up to £3,000 per annum?
Starting university in October 2011?
You can apply for an IET scholarship if you are about to commence any IET accredited MEng or BEng degree course and expect to achieve a minimum of 300 UCAS points in your A levels (or equivalent).
Commencing the second, third or final year of university in October 2011?
If you are commencing the second, third or final year of an IET accredited degree course in October 2011 and expect to obtain 60 per cent or more (i.e. a 2:1 or above) in your end of year exams, apply for an IET grant worth £1,000.

- You can check whether your degree programme is accredited by downloading the directory of IET accredited degree courses;
- There is no need to become an IET member prior to application (all successful applicants receive free IET membership).
Other Scholarships supported by the IET
Power Academy
The Power Academy has been established to address the looming skills shortage in power engineering through a combination of financial support and workplace mentoring for students. Scholarships are awarded to students studying an IET accredited MEng or BEng electrical, electronic or power engineering course at the University of Bath, Cardiff University, Imperial College London, Queen’s University Belfast, University of Manchester, University of Southampton, or the University of Strathclyde. A scholarship includes a bursary of £2,200 for each year of study and paid summer work placements.
E3 Academy
The E3 Academy offers sponsorship to undergraduate students studying Electrical (Energy) Engineering at the Universities of Nottingham or Newcastle, and covers Energy Conversion, Power Electronics, Machines and Generators, Electrical Drives and Control Engineering. This is a huge growth area with applications covering Aerospace, Automotive, Marine, Industrial Manufacturing, Renewable Energies, and Process and Utility Industries. Sponsorship is provided by UK based international companies and includes a £2,500 bursary and a paid vacation placement.
UK Electronics Skills Foundation
The UK Electronics Skills Foundation (UKESF) offers scholarships to students studying BEng and MEng degrees in electronics or electronic engineering at the University of Bristol, University of Edinburgh, Imperial College London, University of Southampton, and University of Surrey. Scholarships are open to students in any year of their degree, except the final year. Successful candidates are matched with sponsoring companies for scholarships that include annual bursaries of up to £1,500, paid summer work placements, industrial mentoring, and professional development training at UKESF summer workshops.
