What is the Power Networks Research Academy?
The IET Power Networks Research Academy (PNRA) has brought together four leading universities, four major power networks companies, EA Technology, the Institution of Engineering and Technology and the Engineering Physical Sciences Research Council to develop an engineering scholarship fund that provides outstanding first degree graduates with support and finance for a PhD high-status postgraduate university course.
What is a PNRA scholarship worth?
- A stipend of £19,600 pa for each year of study (mostly tax free);
- University fees paid each year;
- Attendance at a UK conference each year;
- Attendance at an international conference each year;
- Planned work experience in the power sector;
- PC, books and other software allowance;
- Mentors from industry partners;

There will be five research scholarships available in 2010 at the following universities:
- Cardiff University
- University of Strathclyde
- University of Southampton
- University of Manchester (studentship 1)
- University of Manchester (studentship 2)
