Chairman's Letter
Dear Member
New Year Letter from the IET Northumbria Network
I am writing to thank you for your continued support of The IET and in particular the Northumbria Network. It is the members of the Network that make it what it is. We aim to deliver a balanced programme of events through the session, ranging from technology lectures, ICT lectures, medical lectures, life skills events to the annual Student Projects competition.
We have a full and exciting programme of events for the second half of the session. Details will be published onto our events section of this website, keep an eye out for anything that may be of interest!
Publishing events onto the website allows the Network to provide up to date information to members throughout the Network. If you use Microsoft Outlook or other iCalendar compatible software, you can simply click on an event and it will be added automatically to your electronic diary.
It is therefore important that members who wish to receive alerts to upcoming events and newsletters should update your details on the My IET section of the website and opt into receiving email alerts. If you do not currently receive IET emails about local events then you are not opted in! Of course, if you do not wish to opt in to email alerts you can always access the website directly at any time.
The Northumbria Network Committee is made up entirely of volunteers who have a desire and passion to provide a balanced programme of events for the members of the Northumbria Network.
We have filled a number of the vacancies on the committee, however we still have an opportunity for a dynamic person to join the Northumbria Network Committee. The Network is looking for a volunteer who would like to take advantage of the excellent opportunities to get involved in the local IET community and help to develop that vital "external perspective", that is necessary in today's job market and also for professional registration. Involvement with the committee is an excellent way to develop organisational skills and extend your network of contacts within the professional engineering arena.
The Network is aware how busy everybody is these days, with many members working long hours or commuting extensively, however the level of involvement is entirely up to you. Should you join the Committee you can contribute how and when is most convenient and you need not feel locked in or trapped.
The vacancy is as follows:
Network Secretary - More information on this role can be found on the website at http://www.theiet.org/volunteers/local/assistance/roles/secretary.cfm. There is some staff support and services available to assist the members taking on this role.
Should you be interested in any of the above roles, it looks good on your CV! Then please contact me directly:
Email: craig.carter@theiet.org
Many thanks for your continued support within the Network.
Yours Sincerely,
Craig
